Where Does the Day Go?

I spent rather a long time yesterday playing on a website with the girls. As I'm not looking at anything self-help like or productive I did a bit of playing instead. It's a rather fascinating website https://neal.fun. The page I found most interesting was called Where Does the Day Go? If you have five minutes I recommend checking it out as it was quite eye opening on how distractions and our phones disrupt our day. Perhaps that's why my brain feels discombobulated most of the time. (I'm not entirely sure that's how I feel, but I've always wanted to use that word in a sentence so thought I'd throw it in there.

Today I had a rather lazy day which was lovely. We zoomed with our friends for a bit of Bible Study, and then this afternoon we went out in the drizzle to Belton House, which is a stately home and park near us. There was a beautiful deer just sitting next to the car park. He was in the wrong place, on the wrong side of the deer fence, but he just watched us serenely as we photographed him in the drizzle. It's really cold here today and I'm not ready for winter, yet it feels like it's rapidly approaching.

I also finished reading a book, called The Kindness of Strangers by Mike McIntyre which was a fascinating account of some guy who hitchhiked across America in the late 1990's without any money. It made me miss America and now I want to go and do some sort of epic adventure trip where I meet bizarre and interesting people.

Nothing overly productive today, just another good day for my soul with my family, a tub of Ben & Jerry's, some nature and friends. I made it through day two of my reading challenge. Only 28 more to go.

My quote for today is from the book, The Kindness of Strangers. "It suddenly occurs to me how odd it is to be staying in the house of a total stranger. But a moment later I think maybe this is the way it's supposed to be. Maybe what's really unnatural is the great lengths we take to avoid one another."

My photo for today is of the beautiful deer.
