Stop Procrastinating and A Walk in the Woods

I listened to an anti-procrastination pep talk yesterday and followed the advice and it worked! Shockingly I managed to get everything done on my to do list this morning. It was a Brendon Burchard video on YouTube and I recommend it if you struggle with getting things finished. I'm good at starting stuff, but I think the finishing is what I find hardest.

He suggests a three step process to tackling projects you're procrastinating on. First thing is you have to have clarity about what you're trying to accomplish. This is the step I struggle with the most as those of you who've been reading for a while already know. Because my brain is all over the place, I have to reign it in and really figure out where I'm going. Apparently if you don't have clarity, your brain won't get excited about finishing so that's often where people get stuck. He also suggests that you write down exactly what you need to do next. You don't just think about it, you write it down. Then the final step is to socialise it, tell people that's what you're going to do. He makes the point that these steps are so easy to do but most people who get stuck, aren't doing them. It really does work and I managed to finish all the things I needed to do this morning so I could enjoy the afternoon out in nature with my family.

We went to Clumber Park today. It's about 45 minutes away from us and we'd never been there before. It was so beautiful. We decided to walk around the lake which was about a 5 mile walk which for our girls is rather longer than what we usually walk. We got back to the car just at sunset. I loved it there and we will definitely go back.

While I was walking through all the art trees with their changing leaves, I thought how cool it is that God made everything so beautiful. Even the stuff no one sees, or hardly anyone stumbles across. It's all there, just beautiful and amazing even though no one is even noticing. I think we are all called to add beauty and creativity into the world, even if no one notices.

My quote for today is “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” — Albert Camus

My photo from today is Phil with a reminder that time spent in nature is never wasted.
