Organizing my Mind

Today we had another Yorkshire exploring day and got fried in 32 degree heat! I am literally exhausted and will probably go to bed by 8:30. I'm such a wimp in the heat. We walked miles, ate amazing ice cream and explored beautiful and interesting places and I enjoyed taking photos with my "real" camera.

As I'm on holiday I couldn't resist a visit to the bookshop. I haven't been in a bookshop since before Corona and the one we have where we live is not exactly amazing so when I saw a bookshop here, I had to go in. I love books and lately I have been reading a lot on my kindle but there's something about a proper book that I love so I treated myself to two books, one is a novel and the other, The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload. I am looking forward to reading this as I do feel like I have an exceptionally full mind. Perhaps because I read too many books.

I had a conversation with my sisters about the way our brain works and apparently not everyone thinks in words. I just assumed everyone thought in words, but neither of my sisters think the same way I do. I literally have so many words running through my brain at all times that it feels very cluttered and full up and it's hard to sort them all out sometimes. Every time I think about anything the words are all there in my head. One of my sisters just kind of sees pictures or has vague ideas floating around and her words only form when they come out of her mouth (how that works I don't know!)

My 10 year old, Amity, just came to tell me that there's actually a Karen game on her tablet called Speak to the Manager! What the heck. That's crazy!

Anyway, back to my brain which is also somewhat crazy. It will be interesting to see if this book can help me organize my brain. I do love a bit of organizing. Too bad I can't "pillow" my thoughts and file them like I file my socks, or perhaps I can. That might be the secret. Maybe I should write a book about pillowing my thoughts.

I think I'm off to my bed now to read (if I can stay awake after all the sun I got today).
