I'm on holiday in Yorkshire for a few days so am spending very little time actively doing anything on the job front. I'm enjoying nature and the smell of cows. We're staying in Harrogate in a really nice apartment in the town and driving out to all the beautiful places around here.
I spent longer than I anticipated this evening searching for more job options. I just wanted to see what else is out there and if there's anything that sounds like a fascinating and exciting career. I didn't put in any parameters on jobs, just location and came up with a plethora of options but only one job within 25 miles of my house that even sounded remotely interesting. It was a full-time position and I don't have the skills they need and it's about an hour away from where I live, so that's not going to work.
The more I think about the carer position, the more attractive it sounds. I think my biggest fear is that there's no computer! I have only had one job where I didn't work at a computer all day long and that was when I was teaching in Korea. I did use my computer a lot there to plan my lesson plans, so even there I had some computer time each day. If I'm a carer, there will be no computer to hide behind which will be so weird.
It's been 16 years since I did anything wildly out of my comfort zone. Perhaps it's time to do something completely different and see where it leads. I'm going to breathe this fresh Yorkshire air (at least I hope it's fresh and not Corona riddled) and contemplate for another couple of days.
