Buzzing

Today I met with Susan, an amazing lady from a charity organisation called Bhive Community in Grantham. I figured while I'm looking for work, I may as well get involved in a local charity and as I had a roundabout connection with them, I contacted her to see if they needed volunteers. It was such an inspirational meeting. She has an amazing vision and I definitely want to be part of it. The name BHive stands for business, health, innovation, volunteering and education. It just so happens that the founder is also a bee keeper so the name was a perfect fit. She also runs the local blind society and there's loads of interesting stuff I can get involved in like writing, reading, marketing and photography. I came away from the meeting feeling energised and excited, buzzing even.

I mentioned that I like photography and have thought of doing mindful photography walks. A few years ago I actually applied to a get my masters in photography and used mindful photography as my portfolio for consideration. It's making me wonder if perhaps I should explore that as an option again although it's quite an expensive course and not sure I'll come out of it being able to monetise anything as its more of an art course than a practical one but I think it would be exciting. It sounds like this is something they would be interested in doing so I may be able to get some experience with that as well.

I'd quite like to do something with photography but I'm not quite sure what yet (no surprise there). I'm looking at setting up a photography site and seeing if I can have a play with it at least. I asked my siblings for suggestions of names seeing that my first name is Karen (which might put some people off) and my last name is really hard for people to spell, so I thought I should call my business something other than my name. My siblings came up with some hysterical options, and some that aren't really repeatable on here. My favourite sharable options: You Light Up My Wife - Photography for spouses, ISO want to take your picture, Reflections, Wrinkled Renditions - Retirement photography, snacks and snap - coffee, cake and photos, Masked madness, corona virus photography and finally Ugly lives matter too, photography for normal people. Many of the suggestions are not exactly viable or even politically correct, but they made me laugh and reminded me why I love my siblings so much. I think all of the above came from my brother, who should become a professional brainstormer by the rate he was contributing. If you ever need some creative advice, or just a good laugh I highly recommend my siblings! Hmmmm, Maybe there's a way to monetise them and sell their expertise. . .need a sarcastic brother? Look no further. Maybe I can sell my name. Have a complaint, need a Karen? Practise being a Karen, with a real Karen.

So although I didn't have any success today on getting hired, I did meet some awesome people and get inspired to explore photography more in depth. I started creating a site to showcase some of my photos and I have a lot of exciting thoughts buzzing through my head about possibilities. Overall it was a good day.

Today's photos is of me and my fantastic siblings. I really hate the word siblings but that's what they are and it's the easiest word to describe the relationship, so I'm going with it anyway.
