6 Ways to Ensure You Don't Get Hired in Under 30 Days

I'm not sure why it's become such a thing to have titles such as 17 ways to improve your love life, or 44 ways to tie up your hair, but they really are everywhere. I decided to write my own list: 6 Ways to Ensure you Don't Get Hired in Under 30 Days.

  1. Have no idea what type of industry or position you would like to apply for. Find yourself lost and confused on the internet reading about endless possible career options and taking career tests just in case you get new inspiration.

  2. Spend more time reading books about trying to find work than actually looking for work.

  3. Update your CV without clarity so you're paralysed with not knowing what to say when you have to apply for a new position.

  4. Go camping for four days in the hopes that fresh air and lots of apple trees give you miraculous inspiration.

  5. Spend more time reading books about trying to find work than actually looking for work.

  6. Sign up for so many free webinars that you don't have time to watch all of them and can't prioritise them and you end up on so many spammy email lists you spend half the time on the computer unsubscribing from mailshots.

  7. Have the name Karen and start a blog about trying to find work in a pandemic riddled world while living in a tiny town with limited job prospects.

It's been 37 days and I'm not sure I'm any closer to finding a job than I was when I started. I'm going to try and use different social media platforms to get hired for the next few weeks. As my favourite one is Pinterest, I'm going to focus on that for the foreseeable future. It's not the conventional go to for job adverts but as long as I can stay focussed and not get lost in the fabulous

world of creative boards, I may just find a company, blog or person who I can connect with who might be able to steer me in the right direction.

Now that I'm back from camping I'm going to make sure I do at least one concrete action every day towards Karening my new career.

My quote for today, "Whatever you're not changing, you’re choosing." Today's photo is of me on my couch.
